PTWA Newsletter Editorial and Advertising Policies Editorial Policy: All advertisements, including INSERTS, must conform with the ethical standards and policies of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Physical Therapy Association of Washington (PTWA). The Editorial Advisory Committee (EAC) and PTWA staff reserve the right to decline any advertisement considered contrary or conflicting with APTA/PTWA policy or purpose. An advertisement appearing in PTWA publications does not imply or constitute endorsement of those products, services, or employer by the PTWA or sponsorship of an educational event. Frequency: Ten annual issues: published monthly, except for July and November. The August issue is our special edition. Circulation: Approximate monthly distribution is 2,000, which includes physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, physical therapy students and schools, and each of the APTA components. The AUGUST issue is our special edition, with a circulation of approximately 4,000. In addition to our regular monthly member recipients, the special edition is distributed to all licensed physical therapists in Washington State. Rates for advertising in the August issue are 1.5 times the regular rate. Purpose: To promote the profession of physical therapy and to support physical therapy professionals in meeting their needs and the physical therapy needs of Washington State citizens. Closing
Dates: The Newsletter closing dates
are: < 5th of the month (preceding month of issue) — deadline for all advertisements. Any advertisement received after the closing date and before the Newsletter goes to press may be accepted at the discretion of the Newsletter staff based on space and time availability. If a closing date exception is granted, a $75.00 RUSH CHARGE will be applied to the cost of the ad. Payment: Pre-payment is required from all advertisers. Checks and major credit cards (i.e., Visa and MasterCard) are accepted. Advertising Agency Commissions: All advertising rates are net, non-commissionable. Multiple Issue Discounts: The multiple-issue discount applies to 5 or more prepaid Newsletter ads, and only the issues/ad sizes originally indicated on the Newsletter Advertising Insertion Order form are eligible. PTWA cannot apply these special rates to orders after the first insertion has been published. Multiple-issue discount advertisers will not be charged extra for the August issue if that month is included in the original multiple-issue order. Advertisers under contract will be rate-protected by the terms of the contract. Cancellations: A service charge of $25.00 will apply to Newsletter ads cancelled on or before the closing date. No cancellations after the closing date. Submissions: All materials (i.e., articles, advertisements, calendar listings) submitted for publication by PTWA must be typed or clearly printed. All ARTICLES submitted for publication by PTWA must be in final format (i.e., quotations confirmed, content verified, etc.). All articles are subject to review and editing for clarity or brevity (approximately 250 words per article) by the EAC. Articles and letters printed by PTWA express the author's views only and do not necessarily represent official policies or views of the PTWA. Articles are prioritized for publication based on newsworthiness. The EAC and PTWA staff reserve the right to decide what material is newsworthy to PTWA membership. News articles and Letters to the Editor take precedence when space is limited. Advertising: Refer to the PTWA Newsletter Advertising Rates & Dimensions sheet for classified ad rates and the various size/price options available for camera-ready (display) ads. All positioning of advertisement is at the discretion of the publisher. All education course ads (except those sponsored by the PTWA) are subject to the usual and customary rates for advertising. PTWA-sponsored education ads will be printed at no charge. Insertion Order: A Newsletter Advertising Insertion Order form must accompany each request for advertising. Submission of a Newsletter Advertising Insertion Order also confirms that you have read and agree to follow the PTWA Newsletter Editorial and Advertising Policies. Directions: Please print out the insertion order. Then fill in the form and send it along with your payment and CAMERA-READY artwork to: PTWA, 208 Rogers Street NW, Olympia, WA 98502-4940. All ads must be submitted in writing; no advertisement verbiage will be accepted over the phone. Proof of Publication: All advertisers receive one Newsletter for each month they advertise, mailed to the address listed on the Newsletter Advertising Insertion Order form. Additional copies are available for $2.00 each. Rates: Refer to the PTWA Newsletter Advertising Rates & Dimensions sheet for specific information. See Rate Table 1 for all non-employment advertising, such as education, sales, and service. See Rate Table 2 for all employment-related advertising. Classified Ads: Classified ads are typed as straight text according to PTWA Newsletter layout guidelines and appear under the general heading "Classified Ads." When counting words for classified ads, count as one word: all single words; each abbreviation; isolated numbers; groups of numbers; and phone numbers. Count as two words: hyphenated words; words separated by a dash or slash (i.e., - or /). Camera-ready ads: All display ads must be submitted as CAMERA-READY, and ads less than a full page must have a border. PTWA does not typeset advertisements. Those advertisers who need typeset services (and do not have their own service provider), PTWA will refer advertisers to a local printer. Advertisers must contact the referred service provider directly to discuss their typesetting needs. Providing Camera-ready Ads and Artwork: B&W hardcopy ads and artwork must be provided by the advertiser. RC paper with photos or screens should be at a minimum of 100 lpi and 300 dpi. Laser output should be at a minimum of 85 lpi and 600 dpi. All hardcopy ads and artwork should be to exact measurements. No facsimile copy will be accepted as camera-ready. Copy from previous insertion will be run if new ad is not received by the submission closing date. Do not fold your ad. Do not send negatives. Providing Digital Ads and Artwork: All digital ads and artwork must include a B&W proof (facsimile is acceptable). PTWA is not responsible for accuracy of an ad if a hardcopy is not submitted. Preferred file formats include EPS, TIFF, or PDF. Our programs include Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat. Media accepted include email, floppy disk, or CD. PDF files must be saved as a minimum of 300 dpi; B&W only—no color files accepted, and fonts must be embedded in the file. NOTE: Original PageMaker files will be accepted, but must include all fonts and linked files. Fliers and Inserts: PTWA will accept fliers for direct insertion into the Newsletter with the proviso that the insert conforms with all PTWA Newsletter Editorial and Advertising Policies. All fliers must be printed on 8˝ x 11-inch, text-weight paper. Advertiser must provide the total number of printed fliers, ready for insertion. Contact the PTWA office for details.
